The first step of our process will be to see if there is a good fit. During the initial session, we can determine if I am the best person to provide the services you need.  If it looks like I can be helpful, I usually schedule one 50-minute session per week, although some sessions may be longer or more frequent, depending on your situation or concern. I view counseling as a collaborative endeavor - all therapeutic goals (and plans to achieve those goals) are established through mutual understanding and consent.  Psychotherapy is a process of examining feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships that can cause distress.  There are many different methods that I may use to deal with the problems you hope to address.   My treatment approach is integrative and most influenced by psychodynamic, humanistic, and developmental theories. My basic approach to counseling tends to be interpersonally  focused, emphasizing the development of a warm, empathic  relationship.  It is my responsibility to help you find the answers within yourself, and to help identify and eliminate barriers to the change you would like to make.
